 The 15th Chief Superintendent Inauguration ceremony was held at the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education (BOE) on July 1st, 2010. Mrs. Lim, Hae-kyung, who pledged ‘clean education, fruitful education and warm-hearted education’ during her campaign, was elected at the nation-wide election on June 2nd, 2010.
Many distinguished guests including, former Chief Superintendents, representatives of various sectors within the education community, and staff members attended the ceremony.
During her inauguration speech, Superintendent Lim reaffirmed her commitment to ‘clean education’, vowing to improve the transparency of school operations, eradicate corruption and wrongdoings and thus substantially improve the level of trust placed in public education in Busan.
“Through ‘fruitful education’, the status of Busan as an ‘Education City’ will be reestablished and scholastic achievement also radically enhanced”, she stated. Superintendent Lim emphasized a focus on inner development rather than outer advancement.
Declaring that ‘warm-hearted education’ will be achieved through a reduction of the inequality in education and realizing education welfare, she asserted her strong intention to implement the free lunch program by 2012. Superintendent Lim assured those present that her pledge of a free lunch program for all elementary schools was not proposed for any populism during her campaign, but based on her philosophy of ‘warm-hearted education’.
Before the inauguration, she paid her respects to Chung Yeol Sa and Memorial Tower. Upon completion of the ceremony, Superintendent Lim began her official duty by holding a senior management meeting. |
