[ Asian Network Project of Busan-Osaka-London ]
Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education has commenced the British Council-sponsored "Asian Network Project: connecting three cities: Busan, Korea Osaka, Japan and London, the United Kingdom. The project has been enacted in the form of on-line educational exchange. It mainly focuses on the discussion of 7 topics including climate change, sports and health, global citizenship, environmental science, economy, future world, and science intervention. The discussion on a selected topic will be performed under the direction and supervision of an assigned teacher in each school. The results of the discussion will be used for class teaching materials.
This project is designed to enable students to exchange their opinions and the created videos with students of London and Osaka at the same time. Through this project, students will be given opportunities to promote international understanding. In addition, this will increase the chance to use English.
Based on this project, BMCOE will foster an on-line education exchange, which will replace the current exchange with foreign countries, thereby reducing the cost of education exchange during the current economic downturn. There are 11 middle schools participating in this project: Daesin middle school, Samsung middle school, Busan international middle school, Gaerim middle school, Dongeui middle school, Deokcheon middle school, Paekyang middle school, Namsan middle school, Haksan girlsmiddle school, Daicheong middle school, and Tongbaek middle school.
